Anjney Midha is a US investor who has backed some of Europe’s most prominent AI companies. As a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz he led the first funding round for Black Forest Labs and sat close to Mistral AI. He left the firm in late 2025 to start his own fund, AMP, which supplies computing capacity alongside money, and from there co-led Black Forest Labs’ next round.
He is worth knowing for a reason beyond the deals. Asked in early 2025 what was holding European AI back, he did not blame regulators. He pointed at the slowness of Europe’s largest companies to adopt AI at all, calling it a cultural problem rather than a legal one.
His track record is a compact illustration of a wider pattern: several of Europe’s strongest AI companies are financed and shaped by a small number of American investors.
