Agentic checkout
Letting an AI agent complete a purchase on your behalf, rather than just finding the product and handing you back to the shop.
Agentic checkout is the step beyond an assistant that recommends things. Instead of giving you a list of jackets and a link, the agent selects one, fills in the details and completes the payment. The word agentic just means the software carries out the actions rather than advising you to carry them out.
The obvious question is what happens when it gets it wrong, and the honest answer is that nobody has settled it yet. The payment side is the part with a decent answer: well built systems issue a credential good for exactly one purchase, so the agent never holds reusable card details. That protects your card number. It does not protect you from an agent that confidently buys the wrong size.
