Apache License

A widely used permissive open-source licence, common for AI models and tools.

The Apache License is a popular open-source licence that lets people freely use, change and distribute software, with a bit more legal detail than the MIT License, including protection around patents. Many companies favour it for that reason.

When an open-weight model ships under Apache 2.0, it means you can run and build on it commercially with few restrictions, which is part of why such releases spread quickly.
