Ethan Mollick
Wharton professor who studies how people actually use AI at work, and writes the widely read newsletter One Useful Thing.
Ethan Mollick teaches at the Wharton School and has become one of the most quoted voices on practical AI use, largely because he runs experiments instead of predictions. His research covers what happens when consultants get access to a model, how creative AI ideas compare with human ones, and where AI ability is unexpectedly patchy, a quality he calls the jagged frontier.
He writes One Useful Thing, a newsletter aimed at people who have to make decisions about AI rather than build it. Much of his work is done with Dr. Lilach Mollick, his wife and research partner. His usual register is worth noting: cautiously enthusiastic, allergic to both doom and hype, and more interested in what a tool changes about a job than in benchmark scores.
