IETF
The open standards body that agrees on how core internet technologies should work.
The IETF, short for Internet Engineering Task Force, is where engineers and companies discuss and agree on shared internet rules, such as how web addresses, email security and crawler instructions should work. Anyone can take part.
A proposal there is not law and not yet final. It becomes useful when many companies choose to follow it, which is what happens with the new AI training label for robots.txt.
