Jira
Atlassian's issue and project tracking tool, widely used by software teams to record bugs and tasks.
Jira is where a great many software teams keep their to-do list. Every bug, feature request and task becomes a ticket with a status, an owner and a history, and the whole team works from that board. If you have ever heard a developer sigh about a ticket number, this is usually what they mean.
It turns up in AI news for two reasons. Teams increasingly wire AI agents into it so that tickets get triaged, summarised or even fixed automatically, and because Jira holds so much internal detail about a company, access to it is a valuable target when something goes wrong in the surrounding automation.
