Millennium Prize Problems
Seven famous unsolved maths problems, each with a one million dollar prize from the Clay Mathematics Institute.
In 2000, the Clay Mathematics Institute listed seven of the hardest unsolved problems in mathematics and offered one million dollars for a correct solution to each. Only one has been solved so far.
One of the remaining problems is about Yang-Mills theory, a part of the maths behind particle physics. That is why claims about it, from humans or AI, draw so much attention, and why experts check them very carefully.
