OpenBMB
A Chinese open-source AI lab known for the MiniCPM family of small models built to run on phones and laptops.
OpenBMB grew out of academic work in Beijing and focuses on models small enough to run on the device in front of you rather than in a data centre. Its MiniCPM series repeatedly tops leaderboards for models under a few billion parameters.
The lab is unusually open even by open-weight standards. Alongside the model files it has published training datasets and intermediate checkpoints, which lets other researchers reproduce and build on the work rather than just download the finished result.
