Qwen3.8 Max

Qwen3.8 Max is the top model in Alibaba’s Qwen family, released in August 2026. It scores 56 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, a ten point jump over Qwen3.7 Max, and it is built for long-horizon tasks: jobs that take many steps rather than one clever answer. It gets there the expensive way, using around 64 steps per task where the previous version used 14.

The interesting number is a regression. On AA-Omniscience, which rewards a model for admitting it does not know something, its hallucination rate climbed from 23 to 40 percent while accuracy stayed flat. It did not become more knowledgeable, it became bolder. That tradeoff is a good reminder that a single headline score never describes a model.
