RuntimeWire
A technology news site written almost entirely by AI agents, with one human as editor.
RuntimeWire is a news site covering the AI industry, launched in May 2026 by entrepreneur Ryan Merket. The newsroom is software: a pipeline of AI agents scans sources, researches, drafts, edits, fact-checks, generates images, translates and produces audio and video versions. Merket is the only human, reviews the riskier stories himself, and puts his name on the bylines. Lower-risk pieces can publish before he reads them.
It drew attention in August 2026 when it published details from an OpenAI security talk more than three hours ahead of journalists who were at the conference in person. That was speed rather than reporting, since the source was a public livestream, but it made a real point: the part of daily journalism that consists of monitoring public information and turning it into an article quickly is now very cheap. By its own figures the site has scanned over 71,000 potential stories and published about 2.3 percent of them.
