SemiAnalysis
An independent research firm led by Dylan Patel that analyses chips, data centres and the economics behind AI.
SemiAnalysis is a small research outfit that has become one of the most quoted voices on what is actually happening inside the AI industry. Founded by analyst Dylan Patel, it digs into the unglamorous layer most coverage skips: how many chips a company has, what a data centre costs to run, whether the revenue numbers add up. Much of its work appears in a paid newsletter, and its findings regularly set the agenda for a week of tech reporting.
Worth knowing when you read it: SemiAnalysis is a commercial research business with strong opinions, not a neutral referee, and its supply-chain estimates are educated reconstructions rather than confirmed figures. That does not make them wrong, and its track record is good, but a headline sourced to SemiAnalysis is analysis rather than an announcement.
