Yuanbao
Tencent's consumer AI chatbot, the main place its Hunyuan models reach ordinary users in China.
Yuanbao is Tencent’s assistant app, roughly its answer to ChatGPT, and the main consumer shop window for the AI models Tencent builds in house. When Tencent releases a new model, Yuanbao is usually where it appears first for the public, alongside the company’s design and video editing tools.
Tencent’s real advantage here is distribution rather than the model itself. The company owns WeChat, which most of China uses daily for messaging, payments and much else, so a capable assistant has somewhere enormous to land. That is a different competitive position from a company that has to persuade people to download something new.
