Flint
An open-weight coding model from the startup Recursive, built largely by the company's own AI research system.
Flint is the first language model from Recursive, released under the Apache 2.0 licence so anyone can download and use it. It has 40 billion parameters in total but only about 2.5 billion active at a time, which keeps it quick enough for a laptop.
Recursive says its internal “Eureka Machine”, an AI system that proposes and tests ideas, did nearly all of the development work in about four months. The speed and benchmark claims come from the company and have not been independently confirmed yet.
