Googlebook
Google's laptop category announced in September 2026, blending ChromeOS and Android and built around its Gemini assistant.
A Googlebook is not a Chromebook with a new sticker. Chromebooks run ChromeOS and sell on being cheap, simple and fast, mostly to schools. Googlebooks are pitched as premium laptops built by Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo, combining parts of ChromeOS and Android, with the Gemini assistant wired into the system rather than sitting in a browser tab.
The features Google leads with are Magic Pointer, which lets you select anything on screen and ask about it, and Create My Widget, which builds a small desktop panel from a spoken or typed request. Two more features connect the laptop to an Android phone, letting you open phone apps and reach phone files from the laptop. Pre-orders were announced for 21 September 2026, with devices shipping that autumn.
