Linux
The free, open operating system that runs most servers and AI infrastructure.
Linux is an operating system, the basic software that runs a computer, that is free and open for anyone to use and modify. While rare on home laptops, it powers the overwhelming majority of servers, including the machines that train and serve AI.
You rarely see it directly, but almost every AI model you use is running on Linux somewhere in a data centre. Its openness is a big reason the modern software world could be built cheaply and collaboratively.
