Mercor
A company that supplies AI labs with expert human data, from written examples to specialist evaluations.
Mercor connects AI companies with human experts who produce the training and evaluation material that models need. If a lab wants a thousand worked examples from practising radiologists or corporate lawyers, someone has to find, vet and pay those people, and that is the business.
It appears in news stories about the data side of AI, including competition for large corporate datasets. As the freely available internet gets exhausted as a training source, the market for expensive, expert, purpose-made data has become a serious industry of its own.
