MicroVM

A very small, fast-starting virtual computer, sealed off from everything else by the hardware itself.

A virtual machine is a pretend computer running inside a real one. A microVM is a stripped-down version that starts in a fraction of a second, so you can create one for every small job and throw it away afterwards.

Because the walls between microVMs are enforced by hardware, they are a popular choice for giving AI agents a safe place to run code. If an agent goes wrong, the mess stays inside its own box.
