Seedream

Seedream is the image half of ByteDance’s generative media line, where Seedance handles video. It creates pictures from text prompts and is available through the company’s own creative apps, including CapCut and Dreamina, as well as inside TikTok’s tooling.

Like Seedance, it landed in a copyright fight. The Motion Picture Association objected to Seedream 5.0 Lite in early 2026 over how easily it produced recognisable actors and characters, and the two sides eventually agreed a framework of output filters, face blocking and content provenance labels.
