SK hynix
South Korean memory manufacturer and the leading supplier of HBM for AI chips.
SK hynix is one of the three big memory makers, alongside Samsung and Micron, and it took an early lead in HBM, the stacked memory that sits next to AI accelerators. That head start turned it into one of the quiet winners of the AI boom, with revenue climbing sharply through 2025 and 2026.
Its statements move the whole market. Chief executive Kwak Noh-jung has warned that 2027 will be the worst year for memory supply in the industry’s history, with demand outrunning production well into 2030. Worth remembering that scarcity forecasts come from a company that profits from scarcity, even when they turn out to be right.
