Voxtral

Voxtral is the speech-to-text side of Mistral, the French AI company. The models turn audio into text, and Mistral has consistently used them to attack on price, with Voxtral Transcribe V2 starting at roughly a third of what larger American providers charge per minute of audio.

They also perform well on accuracy, sitting near the top of independent transcription rankings rather than trailing the cheap end of the market. For European users there is a second consideration beyond price: Mistral is an EU company, which can simplify questions about where data is processed.
