Beam

The first open-weight model from US startup Reflection AI, built for coding and long-running agent tasks.

Beam is an AI model released by Reflection AI, a New York startup founded by former DeepMind researchers. It is “open-weight”, which means the finished model files are published under the Apache 2.0 licence, so others can run, study and build on it. It is aimed at writing code and handling long, multi-step agent tasks.

It has about 501 billion parameters in total but uses only around 23 billion at a time, a design called mixture-of-experts that keeps it cheaper to run. You can try it through Ollama Cloud, which was free for a limited time when it launched.
