The cheapest and fastest tier of Google's Gemini family, meant for very high volume work where cost per request matters more than depth of reasoning.
Google’s Gemini lineup is layered by cost and capability: Pro at the top, Flash as the everyday workhorse, and Flash-Lite underneath as the budget option. Flash-Lite is built for jobs you run millions of times, such as classifying messages, extracting fields from documents or filtering content.
It will not reason its way through a hard multi-step problem, and it is not meant to. The useful habit with any tiered family is to start with the cheapest model that can do your job and only move up when you can show it is failing, because the price difference between tiers is often an order of magnitude.
