Oak Lab was founded by Richard Sutton, one of the architects of reinforcement learning, to pursue AI that learns continuously from its own experience rather than from a giant pile of text collected in advance.
The premise is a pointed one: Sutton considers today’s dominant methods weak and inefficient, despite their results. Whether he is right is genuinely open, and worth watching precisely because it is a bet against the consensus.
