Volta Infra Holdings
A cloud computing startup founded in early 2026 that signed a roughly 10 billion dollar, six year compute deal with Anthropic.
Volta was founded in early 2026 by former managers from the asset manager Brookfield and rents out computing capacity for AI. Its first headline customer is Anthropic, which committed to roughly 10 billion dollars over six years for capacity at a hydropower fed data centre in Tydal, Norway, operated by the Bitcoin miner Bitdeer.
The company raised 300 million dollars led by Andreessen Horowitz and Altimeter Capital at a 2.4 billion dollar valuation, with Nvidia and Michael Dell among the investors. That last detail is worth noticing: Nvidia both invests in Volta and sells it the chips, a circular pattern that shows up repeatedly in how the AI build-out is financed.
