AlphaEarth Foundations
A Google DeepMind model that turns many kinds of satellite data into a compact description of each patch of ground.
AlphaEarth Foundations is a model from Google DeepMind that reads data from many satellites at once, such as ordinary photos, radar, laser measurements and climate simulations, and boils it down to a short numerical “fingerprint” for every small square of the Earth’s surface.
Think of it as a very good summary that other tools can build on. Instead of every project processing raw satellite images from scratch, they can start from these fingerprints, which is how projects like the ForTy forest map get going faster.
