It runs on subscriptions rather than advertising, employs a small number of well-sourced reporters, and specialises in the things companies would rather announce themselves: acquisition talks, funding rounds, revenue figures, internal disagreements.
You will see it cited constantly in AI coverage, usually in the form “according to The Information, citing a person familiar with the matter”. That framing is worth reading carefully. Its track record on scoops is strong, but a single anonymous source describing a deal that has not been announced is still one step short of confirmation.
